New Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean toothbrush “Feeling Protective, Gentle yet Effective

Philips has announced the launch of its new Sonicare ProtectiveClean toothbrush at the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show in May 2018. The new range incorporates Sonicare’s patented technology – 31,000 brush strokes per minute creates dynamic fluid action which drives fluid deep into the interproximal spaces and along the gum line, delivering users a gentle, yet effective clean for healthier gums.

Designed to make good oral health more accessible, the ProtectiveClean range has options to suit different price points and includes important features recommended by dental professionals and preferred by patients. Primary among them its unique pressure sensor technology which alerts users when they are applying too much pressure.

A two-minute timer helps users brush longer, and a brush head replacement reminder tracks the time the brush head has been used, balanced with the pressures applied then uses a smart algorithm to calculate precisely when the brush head should be replaced and alert the user; helping ensure the toothbrush is always performing at peak performance.

To support the launch, Philips is working with industry experts, Dr Ben Atkins (above) Clinical Director of Revive Dental and Anna Middleton, dental hygienist with London Hygienist, to collect patient feedback and their experience of using the new power brushes.

Collating user feedback and results from more than 50 previous manual toothbrush users over a four-week period, Dr. Ben Atkins and Anna Middleton will present their results at the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show.

Early findings have shown improved patient engagement with tooth brushing, a better brushing technique and an overall better clean when using ProtectiveClean.

Philips plans to expand its research during the summer by recruiting 1,000 manual toothbrush users from 100 dental practices across the UK. The aim is to better understand the impact of Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean on users’ behaviour and how it helps them in achieving good/better oral hygiene.

The Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean toothbrush is proven to reduce gum disease by up to 100% and remove up to seven times more plaque than a manual toothbrush for improved oral health. The toothbrush uses unique technology and a sonic sweeping motion to create gentle microbubbles for an exceptional clean feeling.
