Visit the Future Experience at Dental Showcase and discover how the times they are a'changing

The introduction of digital technology is modernising the modus operandi of dentistry and the pace of technological change is expected to be as breathtaking in dentistry as in our everyday lives. Dental Showcase is the place to peek into ‘Tomorrow’s World’ at the Future Experience exhibit!

This brand-new feature will explain what technology is available to you right now, and how it can improve the way you practice dentistry, as well as how your patients experience it. As you enter the Future Experience you will first be taken back in time. The BDA Dental Museum have carefully transported several artefacts so that you can look at the equipment used by dentists from the seventeenth through to the early twentieth century.

After reflecting on the past, you will then be greeted by three dentists extolling the virtues of their investments in the latest innovation. They will explain how their working practice has changed as a result of investing in digital technology.

After that, it’s time to roll your sleeves up as you enter the scanning zone. Here you will be able to review the latest scanning technology. A competitive element will be introduced to this exhibit, with delegates being encouraged to participate in a scan challenge using a Trios Move intra-oral scanner. There will be a ‘Top Gear’ style leader board and top prizes.

There is a mini-lecture theatre within the zone where you can earn valuable ECPD by listening to presentations including ‘Digital Workflow in Cosmetic Dentistry’ and ‘Intraoral Scanning – its benefits and results in simple and complex cases’.

All visitors to the Future Experience will automatically be entered into a draw to win a FormLabs 3D printer, worth over £3,000, for their practice!

Everything is relative in life. To use a common analogy, if you’ve looked after your iPhone 5 it will still be perfectly functional and you may be perfectly happy with it, but what if you had an iPhone Xs in your hand and could see the advanced camera? Hear the improved audio? Experience the face ID? Who would have thought five years ago that your face would be your password? Be sure to visit the Future Experience at this year’s Dental Showcase. See, hear and learn about all that’s new in dental digital technology.
