ADI Team Congress 2019: Living up to expectations

The ADI Team Congress 2019 delivered an exciting lecture programme this May, with a line-up of national and international speakers sharing their knowledge and passion for excellence in implant dentistry. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Edinburgh, the event catered to all members of the dental team involved with the field of dental implants, ensuring there was something for dentists, dental hygienists and therapists, dental nurses and practice managers, dental technicians, and students.

Abid Faqir, ADI President (above) commented: “We were so pleased to provide such a high-quality educational event for ADI members and non-members. The feedback we have received so far has been extremely positive and it has highlighted the calibre of the speakers we invited. It is also great that so many dental nurses, practice managers, dental hygienists, dental therapists, technicians and students got involved with their own dedicated programmes, which were equally well received.

“Furthermore, having worked very closely with our exhibiting companies, we were delighted to enjoy one of the busiest and most interactive ADI Team Congresses we’ve ever had. As is tradition, the social event topped off what was an amazing ADI Team Congress and we hope to see even more professionals at the highly anticipated ADI Team Congress 2021!”

The event commenced with a morning of Corporate Forums, during which dental implant-related companies invited attendees to discover the latest innovations in their portfolios. Sessions were run by Bredent, BioHorizons, Dentsply Sirona, EthOss, Geistlich Biomaterials, Implantium, Nobel Biocare and Straumann Group.

Dentist John Clydesdale enthused: “These were great Corporate Forums. It was excellent to hear directly from the industry leaders.”

Following a warm welcome by Abid Faqir the Plenary Programme was presented by leaders in the global dental implant field, including Istvan Urban, Lyndon Cooper, Alessandro Agnini and Andrea Agnini, Markus B Blatz, Wael Att, Markus Hurzeler, Craig Misch, Daniele Cardaropoli and David Guichet, to name but a few.

David Offord, a dentist delegate, commented: “The ADI Team Congress 2019 has been a first-class conference. The standard of the speakers was exceptional and it is a tribute to the association that such eminent international figures are willing to travel to our event and share their knowledge. Well done to all the ADI team.”

The second day of the ADI Team Congress provided dedicated lectures for individual team members, including the Technicians’ Programme, Nurses & Practice Managers’ Programme, Hygienists & Therapists’ Programme and Students’ Programme. Sessions were once again presented by an inspirational line-up of speakers, who shared a wealth of information.

The Congress also featured a major exhibition with more than 50 companies in the field demonstrating the latest products and technologies. The various submissions for this year’s Poster Award were displayed, with the winner – David Furze – announced on Saturday morning. The judges applauded his poster entitled “Aesthetic Outcomes of Implant Supported Crowns With and Without Peri-implant Conditioning Using Fixed Provisional Prosthesis, a Randomised Clinical Study. 3 Year Results”.

The ADI was keen to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of its past Presidents, offering prestigious Honorary memberships to the following individuals in recognition for all they have done for the association (Presidential term in parentheses):
