Leading composite aesthetic technician Lisa Johnson hosts her second GC Gradia Plus Course in Leuven
Following the success of Lisa Johnson’s first Gradia Plus advanced two-day hands-on course at the GC Europe Campus in April, Lisa hosted her second course at the same venue on the 14th-15th September. Located on its site in Leuven, Belgium this state-of-the-art environment enables GC and its worldwide network of dental professionals to deliver hands-on courses, presentations and demonstrations of all its major technologies and products.
Designed to demonstrate the ease of use of the Gradia Plus one body flasking technique and the aesthetics of this layering material, the course hosted 12 technicians from around the UK, including Guys and Glenfield Hospital.
Day one began with a presentation of the Gradia Plus Concept and the one body flasking technique. This was followed by a practical session on flasking and opaquing frameworks, followed by dentine injections. The day finished with an evening in Leuven during which delegates enjoyed dinner at the Mykene restaurant followed by drinks in Leuven’s 15th Century Old Market Square.
Day two commenced with a practical session on the dentine cut back technique, followed by another practical session on dentine modification, light body application and lustre paint, and enamel injection. Then, following lunch at the GC Campus, the last practical session concentrated on gingiva cut back and application, and glaze application. During the course the delegates each built up a six unit titanium bridge (above) finished with Gradia Plus.

Lisa Johnson DTG, from Nexus Dental Laboratory in Harrogate, is one of the UK’s top composite aesthetic technicians with over 20 years’ experience using composite systems and specialising in large implant frameworks.
From early trials onwards, both Lisa and her colleagues at Nexus Dental Laboratory were involved in the development of GC’s new Gradia Plus composite resin crown and bridge system and have layered many frameworks using injectable techniques with the Gradia Plus One Body System.
