Five clear aligner masters launch Bsurealigners, a “Mentoring and hand-holding framework”
Fortune Business Insights has estimated that the global clear aligners market reached $2.41 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach $10.04 billion by 2028. It also commented on the benefits of clear aligners over traditional metal braces: “The launch of technologically advanced clear aligners and increasing focus on developing advanced dental aesthetics are major factors driving the growth of the market.
Companies such as Align Technology stepped up their education and certification/recertification for non-aligned dental professionals, but there sometimes seems to be a dichotomy between undertaking training and having the confidence to apply this in practice. Bsurealigners has been launched to bridge the gap.
Clear aligner experts Rafi Romano and Nimrod Dykstein both from Israel, Susana Palma and Javier Lozano from Spain, and Udo Windsheimer from Germany – all world- renowned speakers and Invisalign Diamond Providers – have joined forces to provide dentists with a robust hand-holding framework for clear aligner therapy with a new global mentoring, support and on-going guidance platform.
Dr Romano explains: “To deliver the same results with the same drive for excellence, using clear aligner treatment, requires greater understanding and knowledge of biomechanics, which most orthodontists did not acquire during their post-graduate training.
“Adapting to treatment with clear aligners requires more than training, it requires a complete change of mind-set and this often challenges even the most skilled clinicians.”
Dr Lozano agrees: “By providing them with the right on-going support and education, practical advice and mentoring, we want doctors to become a better version of themselves. We want to help them achieve results they are happy with, results comparable with fixed appliances, if not better.
“Mentoring with Bsurealigners is all about being relatable, it is about hand-holding, it is about guidance and working at each practitioner’s pace”.
The founders say they are dubious about some of the services set up to help newly trained providers, and suggest that doctors who use treatment planning services do not learn if everything is done for them.
Besurealigners is not offering to undertake treatment planning, instead the team review and advise about prospective treatment strategies, provide practical ways to create short and precise treatment plans, and help with case follow-through and modifications.
Dr Romano continued: “Align Technology invests substantial resources to certify orthodontists and general practitioners, but our research shows that only 2% start using clear aligners on a regular basis as most lack the knowledge and confidence to treat immediately following certification.
“Our objective is to help you grow your clear aligner cases at your own pace, whether you have done one case or 100. Joining Bsurealigners means that several mentors look after you, helping you gain an understanding of clear aligner systems from different sources, meaning that you can sit in the driver’s seat with increased confidence to treat.”
Dr Palma observes: “After working with us individually and in small groups, dental professionals will be able to make confident informed choices about the best ways to treat their patients and communicate with technicians for the optimum outcome. They will have peace of mind that their chosen treatment pathway will be validated by all of us.
“At Bsurealigners, we all come from different countries and have received trainings from all over the world. As a result, our collective experiences of clear aligner therapy have been very different. Our patients have given us different challenges too. Being a user of Bsurealigners is like having a personal trainer in clear aligner therapy.
“We know that dentists have tremendous potential to achieve more – what they are already doing with fixed braces shows that. Now it is just about getting the right handholding and mentorship to help them excel in clear aligner therapy in the same way.”
A subscription costs €100 per month and members are mentored by the team through lectures, private sessions and a dashboard they can use to exchange ideas and share problems. The Bsurealigners team describe the programme as structured, “not as a series of lectures, but rather a workflow that will give members the tools they need to ascend the ladder to treatment confidence”.
All sessions are recorded and are available on the dashboard, a great benefit for those who encounter difficulty viewing live due to time zone differences. Members can also enrol in private, one-to-one sessions or meet in groups of up to ten participants where they can discuss their own cases, outline their own ClinCheck plans, and learn from peers at a similar level of development.
