Key dental issues discussed at ADG roundtable event, hosted in partnership with LaingBuisson
In partnership with LaingBuisson, the Association of Dental Groups (ADG) recently hosted a roundtable event to discuss current challenges facing dentistry and identify possible solutions that might help to ensure the long-term sustainability of NHS dentistry.
Chaired by former Deputy Chief Dental Officer at the Department of Health Sue Gregory OBE, and attended by many principal figures in the profession, the roundtable addressed key issues threatening to undermine the delivery of dental care.
Education and training, regional variations in the supply of dentists, dwindling numbers of EU dentists, and the greater demand for skills mix in the dental practice were among the topics discussed. Stakeholders identified changes needed to get to grips with the problems that lie ahead – including greater involvement from the government and NHS commissioners.
The roundtable was a huge step forward for dentistry, bringing together most of the key organisations for the discussion, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The Association of Dental Groups will therefore continue to work closely with key stakeholders from the profession as well as senior government and NHS figures.
