Prosthodontic specialist Finlay Sutton announced as first Den-Tech Patron

Andrea Johnson, one of the founders of dental charity Den-Tech, has this week contacted Dental Review with breaking news.

She said: “Den-Tech is very thrilled to announce that we now have our first ever Patron, Finlay Sutton. Finlay is a familiar face and respected figure in the dental arena. He is very well known for his love of helping, mentoring and teaching his fellow dental professionals, and for his active support for worthwhile causes.”

Finlay responded: “I am immensely proud and honoured to be Patron of Den-Tech, a unique and wonderful charity. I wholeheartedly support the charity’s tremendous work in helping homeless people in the UK regain their dignity with the provision of well-made dentures.

“Den-Tech’s fantastic service is also provided for those in need abroad. I encourage all dentists and technicians to consider offering their time or donating whatever they can spare to this much needed cause.”

Finlay’s referral practice is based in Garstang, North West England, where he specialises in the provision of removable prosthodontics.

He continues: “Together with my highly skilled dental technicians Rowan Garstang and Sam Hesketh who work in the room next to my surgery, we provide patients with superbly functioning and life-like dentures – often profoundly improving their quality of life.

“I also love teaching and mentoring my fellow dental professionals, sharing my techniques and experience regarding state-of-the-art dentures, aiming to ignite their enthusiasm for removable prosthodontics.

After qualifying in 1993 Finlay spent six years in general practice, during which time he had found working with prosthodontics difficult and unpredictable.

He adds: “This led me to leave general dental practice to pursue a further seven years formal training in prosthodontics and restorative dentistry at Manchester and Liverpool dental hospitals prior to establishing my specialist referral practice in 2007.

“I now concentrate my professional life around three key areas, namely the clinical provision of removable prosthodontics for patients on a direct and referral basis, training, lecturing and mentorship for fellow dental professionals, and finally research and development. I will now add my support and Patronage of Den-Tech to the mix. It is wonderful to find such a worthwhile cause through which to give something back to our global community.”
